How does a video game make me less sedentary?
In October 2019, Nintendo released Ring Fit Adventure, its latest fitness game for the Switch. It piqued my interest. I was looking for inspiration to get moving again. Over the years, I’d become less active and reached a point where I couldn’t even manage 3,000 steps a day. There are days when I don’t even open my front door. For someone like me, a video game that encourages movement might be a good start.
I’m not overweight. I’m healthy for my age. I don’t have high blood pressure or heart problems. I’m simply lazy. I don’t like exercising. I like to walk, but I usually don’t walk briskly enough to raise my heart rate. I prefer to sit on the couch watching movies or playing video games.

The adventure mode in Ring Fate revolves around a muscular dragon named Drago who escapes from captivity and unleashes chaos and destruction on the world. The story may seem absurd, but it’s incredibly fun.
